For $499 the ASUS EeePC 1005P is competing with alternative netbooks that have better overall specs and are much cheaper overall. If the white finish appeals, get the price down to about $250. That way it's still a bargain even compared to newer netbooks.
It has a respectable Intel Atom N450 (1.66GHz) processor that does a good job running Windows 7 Starter and is fine for productivity applications word processing or managing spreadsheets. While it may only have onboard graphics and 1GB of RAM, basic computing doesn’t require anything more.
The 250GB hard drive is one of the limitations for netbooks, but as long as too many videos or photos aren't stored on the 1005P it shouldn't be a major limitation.. Another typical limitation of netbooks seen here is the 10.1in (1,024x600 resolution) screen, a small but functional component that ensures you can see what’s on the screen clearly. Portability is quite good, because the 1005P weighs 1.27kg, and measures 35.6mm thick, 178mm deep, and 262mm wide.
This is an average, notebook, with not a great deal to recommend it but on show-stopper downsides either.
