HP Mini 110-3744TU

HP’s netbook continues to get higher specs for a lower price, and from our experience it’s sure to get a significant discount at retail.

For $399 the 10.1in HP Mini 110-3744TU is a steady improvement on HP’s older netbooks, because it has stronger specs than its predecessors while staying at the same low price.

An Intel Atom N570 (1.66GHz) is the current king of netbook processors, and while still slower than anything in a full-sized notebook it’s nonetheless more than enough for productivity applications. The 1GB of RAM is also enough to ensure that Windows 7 Starter runs smoothly on the 10.1in (1,024x600 resolution) screen.

There’s not much else overly exciting about the specs. A 250GB hard disk drive is par for the course, and should be enough for your most important files. The 3744TU weighs 1.31kg, which while light is still not as light as some other netbooks from brands like ASUS and Samsung.

We really like this notebook -- it's well above average in terms of price and capabilities, and there are many points to recommend it.
