Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (1018)

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (1018) for $399 really doesn't stack up well when you consider that many netbooks for around $350 have better overall specs. In order to compete this netbook would need to be about $150 cheaper.

The Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz) is a decent netbook processor, and it certainly has enough power to tolerably run Windows 7 Starter. Onboard graphics help along productivity a little, and does allow for some low-end casual gaming. The 1GB of RAM is typical for a netbook; anything higher is very unusual.

A 250GB hard drive provides plenty of storage for smaller files, and is about as large as can fit into most netbooks. The 10.1in (1,024x600 resolution) screen may prove too small for some, but it’s good enough for surfing the internet or writing e-mails. The Dell Mini 10 weighs 1.33kg, and measures 32.8mm thick, 197mm deep, and 268mm wide.
