Download Snapseed, App Store’s Best Photo Editor, Now Free
Nik Software, Inc., a privately-held American company that develops solutions for the digital-imaging and photography markets, is offering its powerful Snapseed photo editing app completely free until September 23.
“Try Snapseed for FREE from 9/20—9/23 and get the app Apple named their iTunes App of the Week in August!”, reads an announcement placed right within the app’s App Store description.
“Snapseed makes any photograph extraordinary and puts a fun high-quality photo experience right at your fingertips. Now anyone can enhance, transform, and share their photos with ease using incredibly advanced features from the leader in digital photography software!”, the company says.
Snapseed lets you browse and adjust your photos with a single tap using Auto Correct, as well as to achieve perfect stills with the more thorough Tune Image function.
Users can enhance specific objects or areas in their photos via Selective Adjust, and they can experiment with cool effects like Drama, Vintage, Grunge, and Center Focus.
Finally, users can add Borders as a finishing touch and off go the pictures to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube and, of course, email.
The app supports 6.25 megapixel images on the iPad, iPhone 3Gs, and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation, and can go up to 16 MP on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4. According to the makers, larger images are automatically down sampled.
As far as supported formats go, Snapseed does everything from JPEG and TIFF photos to RAW photos. The latter requires iPad or iPad 2 and they can only be transferred using the Camera Connector Kit.
Updated last month to version 1.2, Snapseed is now a universal app meaning you download once and install the same app on both your iPhone and iPad.
The app now supports iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd Gen (32 & 64 GB), and iPod Touch 4th Gen (8, 32, & 64 GB) and requires iOS 4.2 or later.
